On the water

There are two ways through Active Pass.

Every day, BC Ferries pass through Active Pass carrying hundreds of travellers. Or you can experience the same waters at the pace of a paddle, with seals nearby and eagles overhead.

Quiet moments

A flash of blue beside the shore.

A kingfisher rewards the patient observer—one of the smaller encounters that makes island life memorable.

Historic Miners Bay

Walk out the door and follow the shore.

The village, Government Dock and changing edge of the bay are all part of daily life here.

Beyond the bay

Quiet roads lead elsewhere.

Not every destination needs to be decided in advance.

Mount Parke

Climb for the longer view.

The island feels different again from above the trees.

Seasons

Small signs of change.

The island marks time quietly, often close to the ground.

Community

The island gathers.

Quiet does not mean empty. Mayne has its own lively rhythm.

Evening

The last light stays on the water.

There is rarely a need to hurry the end of the day.
